i just finished listening to the javaposse podcast episode 204 and they presented two Java apps this week the first one is called JavE or Java ASCII versatile Editor, and it allows to draw in ASCII characters even in free hand mode it's a really cool app since you can create ASCII arts and insert them in your email or to comment your source code with diagrams and it allows even to get animations here is an example with a Dilbert image:
the other java Application discussed in the javaposse this week, which is my favorite, is actually a web app based on applet and called Wordel and it's a nice tag cloud generator, based on a list of words, a blog feed, an RSS or ATOM or even a user name in delicious.com it will generate a printable tag cloud which can be easily customized so you can change colors, fonts and layouts. here is what my delicious tags looks like in Wordel :
